Depression: The Misunderstood Epidemic is a 2010 documentary by Susan Polis Schutz consisting of first hand testimonies from sufferers of depression and people who have otherwise been affected by depression in their families. The film attempts to show how the illness can be suffered by anybody regardless of their race, gender, age, or socioeconomic background.
Its a really valuable production for people who suffer from depression to understand some of their symptoms, but also for those who have had the fortune to never suffered from mental illness to gain an insight into how it feels. The film also explores the stigma which is still attached to mental illness in society and the various forms of treatments and therapies available to sufferers.
